4 months (a little late)

Cooper is 4 1/2 months old now. Wow that went fast! A couple weeks ago I took him in for his 4 month appointment. We went to a new doctor at the BYU Student Health Center since our insurance has changed. Let's just say I really miss Cooper's old doctor. When they weighed him he weighed 14 lbs. When I told the doctor that at his two 2 month appointment he weighed 12 lbs she acted a little concerned that he only gained 2 lbs over the last 2 months. He looks nice and fat to me but she wanted him a little fatter. So we are working on plumping this guy up with a little extra formula. I think he is fattening up nicely. Other then that he looks perfect. Here is some of what Cooper is up to now a days.
  • He is balding. Sad I know. He has lost pretty much all his hair on the sides but is keeping his long hair in the back of his head and on the top so he totally has a mullet. Hey mullets are coming back in style right?
  • He is grabbing at everything, including my hair. It's getting much harder to do stuff while he's in my lap because he wants to grab at whatever I have.
  • He is such a giggler. I love making this boy laugh. It's music to my ears.
  • He is going to roll over any day now. He is pro at the tummy to back but can't quite make the push from back to tummy but I see it happening any time now.
  • I think Cooper is quite the momma's boy. Apparently when I leave him with Colin he cries. He whines when I leave the room and knows how to get my attention. Some ways I really don't like this but somehow I secretly like it too.
  • He has a fascination with his tongue. It's constantly sticking out. Seriously, for hours at a time.
  • He is a snuggler. mmm I love me some Cooper snuggle time.
  • He has attempted rice cereal, it was actually quite funny. I took a video of it to show Colin so have a look if you like...

My First Project

I have attempted my first sewing project on my new sewing machine. I thought I would start with something quite simple like a pillow. Well it took my a lot longer then I thought it would. Let's just say I had to figure out my sewing machine, but I think the next project will go much faster. It definitely isn't perfect but it's just for me so I don't care.

You can find the tutorial here.

I'm on the lookout for some more fun projects. If you know any fun craft blogs or DIY sites feel free to pass on the wisdom.

The best two weeks of the year

Hello all you bloggers out there it's been awhile. Much has happened and I keep thinking I should blog it out but I just don't. So the babe is sleeping I'm taking a break from folding laundry (hate it) and letting you know what's been going on at the Schmutz house.

So it just so happens that our anniversary, my birthday, and Mother's day all follow within two weeks of each other. Lucky for me and lucky for Colin. That's kind of a big job for the man, but he did pretty dang good.

Our anniversary was on April 25th.I can't believe it's been two years since this day...

I think Colin may have initially forgotten it. He left for work while I was still in bed. When he kissed me goodbye he didn't say anything about it. I called him after I got up to tell him happy anniversary and I'm fairly certain I caught him off guard but he recovered well becaus
e a few hours later flowers arrived at my door. Nice move huh?

We left the kiddo with my sister that night and went out for a nice sushi (my fav) dinner. It was so nice to spent time together just the two of us. Then we went to the Sweet Tooth Fairy for some delicious cupcakes. We told the man there that it was our first time so
he gave us two cupcakes and a few cake bites for free! Who does that anymore?! and I must say if you have never been there you must go right now. Like now.... or after you read this! It's so freaking good. Anyways, I have to do a shout of to the hubby. Two years ago I had no idea what I was in for. Good thing marriage has been so much more fun and rewarding then I could have imaged. Love you baby!

So a week an half later it was my birthday. He woke me up at midnight to tell me happy birthday but I was so out of it I didn't appreciate it until later. I told Colin that I wanted a sewing machine for my birthday and he told me that wa
s probably too expensive. I was bummed but I had accepted that I wasn't getting it. But boy did he trick me. When I got up that morning and went out to the front room this was stilling on the coffee table... He says that it's my anniversary, birthday, and Mother's Day present combined. That is fine with me! I'm so excited to get this thing going and to make some stuff. Since becoming a stay at home mom I've found myself needing some "me" time. So I'm trying to develop some of my hobbies. This will be perfect.

The rest of the day was great too. My husband spoiled me and we hung out all day and went out to dinner and a movie that night. By the way, I turned 23. Oh man I'm so old.

Mother's Day was fabulous as well. I think Colin was sick of spoiling me at this point but whatever. We had to speak in church. boo. I'm so glad that is over with! But I have to mention since this was my first mothers day, I am so happy to be a Mother! It is hard and exhausting. It is a full time j
ob but it is so rewarding. I love my little guy more than words can express. It has given me a small amount of understanding how much God loves his children. I would do absolutely anything for him. this little guy has stolen my heart and I don't think I'm getting it back. I'm okay with that.

Here is some pictures from our St. George trip a few weeks. Purely for your enjoyment. Cooper went on his first hike and his first swim.

(I just added this one because I think it's funny they are both closing their eyes)
